If I pay cash, and don't "splurge" will I be ok going out of state to help my son?

I will be going across the country next month to babysit my grandson, as my son is in the Army and will be away for 6 weeks, and his wife works odd hours so they won't have a babysitter. If I pay cash only, and don't spend lots of money, will the trustee question this "trip" as a luxury? My plane ticket will most likely be a gift from family.

All these little necessities are really mind boggling. I'm not sure how I am allowed to spend what little money I have. I will be filing bankruptcy in the next 3 months or so, depending on what happens with the collections summons I received.

Watching your grandchild while your child is away with the military will probably only bring a "good for you" from any reasonable person. But, we're talking about the Trustee.

I would not worry about this as it's easily defensible. The fact that you're not using credit make it even more defensible. In fact, this will not even come up because you did not use any credit card to fund this trip.

Babysitting is never a luxury. You can quote me.
