What am I waiting on for my discharge?

I filed Chapter 7 Pro Se on 8/5/16. I turned in all my paperwork and attended the 341 which went well but I ultimately had to have it continued and had to redo my exemptions schedule. I also had to have a reaffirmation hearing. The judge didn't approve or disapprove my reaffirmation request. He said this was his standard practice. That was 2 weeks ago.

I check PACER daily, but no updates since the reaffirmation hearing. Its been 86 days since my 341 and PACER states that my status is awaiting discharge. I'm thankful the process was so smooth, just want to get across this finish line. Any idea what my case is waiting on?

Are there any FLAGS in PACER under your Case Summary screen?

Yes, The REAF flag. Hearing was 2 weeks ago and I thought that would be long enough to file whatever paperwork came out of that.

That probably held up the discharge. The issue may be that the order denying the reaffirmation may not yet be docketed, or it is docketed by the REAF flag is keeping it from closing.

Just call the Clerk of the Court and ask if there is anything else you need for discharge. Sometimes they'll discharge you right over the phone. At least you'll get the correct answer as to the issue.

Thanks, I will look into that. That's not the same clerk as the trustee's clerk is it?

No, this is the Clerk of the Bankruptcy Court. You can find their number on the bankruptcy court's web site. You may need to speak with a specific Case Manager, but they'll tell you if you call the general number for the clerk's office.

I got my discharge!! The same day I contacted the clerk, the discharge was filed. I just want everyone to know that there is hope. The first attorney I spoke to was clueless. The second said it was a slam dunk CH 7. I filed Pro Se, well over the means test, didn't have a SS card at my 314, and everything still went great. So happy this process is over.

Congratulations! I'm enjoying another Pro Se discharge. It's possible... the proof is right here.
