Opening new bank account after filing but before 341

Due to bank levies, all my bank accounts were closed a year ago, and I never bothered to open new ones.
Been living on cash ever since.

Filed BK last week and tried to signup for PACER, but realized a cc/debit is required to get an account.
Would it be ok to open a new bank account at this point? Just going to put $50 in so I can signup for PACER..

My main concern is since I listed no bank accounts on my petition, would the trustee wonder about new bank account popping up all of a sudden?
Do I even have to tell my trustee about post-bk accounts?

There is no reason you can't open an account. You also don't need to report it to the trustee, unless necessary to truthfully answer a question. You may also have to provide copies of the statements in response to a request by the trustee if they ask for account statements for a period after your filing date. If that happens, just let the trustee know that the account was opened after you filed.

The only way opening a new account would be an issue is if you deposited cash that was under your mattress on the date you filed your BK and you didn't report the cash as an asset.

We also got another bank account. We stayed with our credit union, but it is located in another state. We opened a small account in a local bank just to have something to fall back on 'just in case'... We had no problem at all.
