I am about 14 months into a chapter 13, and have always paid on time. However, I see my income temporarily dipping below what it normally is for about 30 to 60 days. I can see the possibility where I will become late on a 13 payment. What happends if I am late one or two months. Does the 13 automatically get dismissed? If they do dismiss, can I prevent repossession of my car by getting current on those payments?

my lawyer told me that they won't do anything until you get behind two months (in Pa.). However, don't wait until this happens. talk with your lawyer. you can miss a payment, but will have to make it up. but you need the trustee's ok. you don't want to get the case dismissed. remember all those calls? those will start again. if you incur money problems, such as a loss of income, you can file for a hardship discharge. again, check with your lawyer. good luck.
