Got my discharge papers via email today from attorney!!

So i was done paying in may on my chapter 13. Got final discharge on Sept 11. That gives people a idea of how long it takes to get finalized.

I paid 3% back. Lien Stripped 220,000. That was a big chunk. My payments never went up and I made more every year. I filed taxes with trustee every year.

And my car just is about to die on me. 208,000 miles on 2007 car.

So get this. I applied online with Capitol One Auto Finance. Approved at 2.93 interest rate. One day after discharge. I am getting a car tomorrow. Not fancy and probably used. 2 year old honda.

I also talked to a lender about refinancing my house. the lender , Churchill mortgage, they were very good. and seems the clock starts on the date we filed not 2 years from the discharge date. So I am going to refi too to clean up my messy finances and be able to save!

I got many good tips from people on this website. Best advice is live on a written budget.

Seems like it took forever.

And I had an awesome attorney in Socal.

Congratulations on your discharge!

I'm in SoCal as well and it seems to be taking forever. I finished paying back in June, my final trustee refund disbursements were in August. I now have the title on my car. Which the bank was the only creditor besides the IRS who got anything. I got the interim accounting and I sent back the "no, I don't pay child support" paperwork they sent to both the court and my trustee (because they didn't tell me where to send it!). The last thing showing in pacer was filed on 8/21.

I'm just being impatient. I know. I just want this to be done and over with.

It was about 21 days from the final accounting filed till we got the discharge. Also I called the court. And they ask for you case number. They told me the date it went up to the judge. And it was 5 days after that.

Not to derail thread but I would like to know how you fared with Churchill Mortgage as I was informed, by them, that there would be a 2 year wait after discharge.
