6 Months To Go - Advice?

We have 6 payments left on our Ch 13.

I am wondering if there are any steps I should start taking now to prepare or any advice for people in this time frame.

Our goal is to try to buy a house after discharge. We will probably use a VA loan to do so, but that's not set in stone as we've used the VA benefit once before, so the fee will be higher the second time.

    Thanks.

We were discharged from a 13 in NC as well. It has taken us 2 years post discharge to get approved for a VA loan. We probably could have gotten approved by others but we are pretty set on using NFCU and they are harder to get approved through. My advice...get your credit reports and make sure they are reporting everything correctly. A lot of things were messed up on mine and I have worked very hard to get things in order. Good luck!

ncvet, I have 6 months left also. Make sure you have taken the 2nd educational class that is required before discharge.

Be careful,we paid our chapter 13 off early to buy a house and then found out there was a 2 year wait after discharge. The mortgage company told me I should have applied for a mortgage before my chapter 13 was closed with approval from the trustee, then there is not a 2 year wait. Call your mortgage broker and check the rules. That rule is totally stupid but our mortgage broker told us it was true.
