I filed on 12/30 and my hearing is scheduled for 02/13. I must have a payment to the trustee by 01/29. I have signed the paperwork to have my payment taken automatically from my bi-weekly pay checks. How long does this typically take to go into effect?

There is no telling. First, an order must come from the Bankruptcy Court, known as the Order for Wage Deduction, and it must be sent to your employer. Your employer then, must start this wage deduction.
Until you know for sure that the wage deduction is active and your employer is taking the money from your checks, you MUST pay the Trustee directly.
If you have questions about this, please speak with your attorney. I know that I had to make the first several payments in my Chapter 13 because, first, the Wage Deduction Order did not even get approved until after my first payment was due, and my employer "lost" (or otherwise mishandled) the first copy of the order!Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10

I live in Iowa.Filed BK13 11-25...341 on 12-16...waiting for confirmation probably in March...My lawyer told me cant even do paperwork for auto pay until confirmed and then may take 1-2 months to start. On edge of my seat til then.I guess it would depend on your employer too.My employer seems to be willing to help;was being garnished and filed Wednesday -had lawyer fax HR Monday and they stopped garnishment for that Fridays paycheck.
