Angel, PLEASE, PLEASE don't think I was implying you must post over at the other forum and not here.

PLEASE do keep us posted and ask us questions if you feel the need, we all care!!

Oh I never thought for one minute that you wanted me to go away. It is just the people over on the other website may be able to help me more than the bk people here. But I will still post here also and ask questions.

So sorry to hear this...my thoughts and prayers are with you.

As to the medical bills - make sure you find out if you qualify for discounted medical and/or assistance before you pay anything further. Most hospitals and doctors have a sliding scale that is based on income / debts. You may have to fill out financial paperwork to qualify, but its worth checking into.

Angel, Medicaid is income-based. Don't know if the qualifying rules have changed, but I qualify according to the various Obamacare sites I've checked. I have no dependents. It may depend on your state.

I'm thinking of you, take care. I can't imagine what you are going through.

It does depend on what state you are in. It is up to each state to decide whether to participate in the medicade expansion under Obamacare. But, even if somebody lives in a state that doesn't expand medicaide, a low income person should still apply to find out if they qualify under their state's eligibility standards. State specific information about the expansion can be found at the bottom of the following site: https://www.healthcare.gov/get-cover...e-marketplace/ The same site is where you can go to learn whether you qualify for a subsidy for insurance and shop for insurance on the exchange. If your state runs its own exchange, the site will link you to that exchange.

I have been in the hospital for 6 days now. There is a woman who works in the financial aid dept that is helping me with all this. will update as I know more but so far sounds good.

Sounds like I have to wait until I get a letter from disability saying whether I am approved or not before anything can be done. I do qualify for Medicaid but my state did not expand the program. This is all totally new to me and I can only go by what people are telling me what to do. So I guess I just wait to hear from disability first.

Update: Got a call from the financial dept of the hospital and that all my paperwork has been submitted for review. They said I would get a letter stating it is under review to see if the hospitalization will be written off or not. So now I just wait again.

Wasn't really a good day yesterday. Did not like what I had to hear from the drs. On Dec 31 I will be getting another shot in the stomach to help repair the bones that have shattered In my back. Forgot what they called it but I don't think it is a steroid shot.

then a month from now they want to start chemo. That is one think I wanted to avoid if I could. For some reason I am scared to death of chemo. I guess I have memories from the past of my dad going thru it and seeing how sick and wasted away he had become before he died. I know many advances have been made since then cause that was like 23 yrs ago but still that stays in a person's mind.

Then the part that really bothers me is the head dr wants me to schedule appts with psychologists and I am supposed to just feel comfortable with these strangers from the get go an open up to them. I know they just want me to come in and visit with them at these appts and see how I am feeling and probably just get to know me better but it is darn hard to open up to someone you don't know. I want to do this when I am ready not when a dr thinks I should. I am feeling pressured.

                              So lots to think about.

Angel I would feel the same way. Here you are with dx and new drs and medicines and no doubt lots of new things. Do you have your own therapist. I would tell them thank you for the suggestion then find your own support group. There are lots and you don't have to go with theirs or the first one you interview! Good luck and stay strong!!
