Well this long journey has come to an end...my 36 month Ch 13 BK was discharged only 2 days after the final payment was marked as being received. I nearly choked when my lawyers office called this morning...I was expecting it to be another 30-60+ minimum after the final payment! Now I did note final payment on the last one, but, um...no way was I expecting it to be done in 2 freakin' days!
To everyone who helped me get started on this, thank you. To everyone starting this process: it seems scary, and life altering, and in a lot of ways it is. Living without any credit for the past 3 years has been a learning curve, but also very, very liberating. Because my self employment is somewhat seasonal, Christmas of 2011 was really brutal...no money coming in, due to some unexpected expenses any reserve was gone, and I had maybe $80 to buy Christmas presents for not only the kids, but the extended family as well. And you know what? I decided to sell some crap on eBay and wound up with $500 more. I managed, and the presents were great and everyone was happy. In the past I probably would have just put $1000+ on cards so everyone got overkill for presents. Everyone was genuinely happy with half as much because I was forced to be more thoughtful on the gifts. Trust me, this whole budget thing works 90% of the stuff I put on my cards was probably stuff I didn't need, I just thought I did at the time.
Good luck, and thanks again!!
