Thank You (CH13 Discharged)

OK, long time lurker here checking in to say thank you to everyone who has taken time to post information and share there wealth of knowledge. It has been a tremendous help. It was a very tough decision, but My wife and I filed CH13 in Dec 2009. We had 54K (house not included) of debt. after the waiting period a few companies did not file a claim, and of the ones that did......we ended up with 47K in a 100 percent pay back plan with a $950 per month payment. We put every red cent we made into the pay back and never once spent any extra on ourselves........Well we paid it all back and got our discharge in January of this year. We were so proud to pay it off early. Now we only have our house payment and no other bills. We own 3 cars outright, they all have over 100,000 miles on them but they are still in great shape. As soon as our credit is good enough to refi our house, we hope to get in a 15 year loan and pay that off as well.


We could not have done it without the information from all of you on this site. We have no regrets, it was the best thing we could have done. It is so nice to be debt free........Keep on Keepin on!!!!

Great news. Ch13 can have some bumps here and there, but you stayed the course. Good for you. Now that you know how to pay something off completely you need to reward yourself in some way to make it all worth while. Cash only though, no borrowing. A little three day outing for you and yours for some reflection time.

Then, get back on that horse as you eluded to and pay off the house. Great idea. Funny how when we are younger we cannot see how to pay off the house, but after a BK or some major financial event one can see the light and shoot for it.
