    Question on moving.

I will be moving into a basement apartment of a private homeowner. It will save me about $500 a month since it includes all utilities and I'll be getting rid of cable as well as reduced rent.

I know that I have to keep the trustee informed of an address change and income changes but do I have to inform them that my expenses have gone down? Right now I hardly have any money left after paying my bills and my chapter 13 payment.

My car is on the brink of completely breaking and I need to save money for a new one and probably would not be able to get a loan. I'd like to be able to take this savings and put it away for a car.

Have a talk with your attorney and see what he or she has to say about it. That is what I would do.

Yes, definitely talk to your attorney. Never inform your trustee of anything without first consulting with your attorney.

Your attorney will certainly see things your way. Moving into a new place for less rent is actually going to make it possible for you to replace your vehicle, which is, no doubt, vital to your ability to earn a living and make the Chapter 13 payments. Anything you can do to reduce your expenses is a plus.
