Discharge 13

Completed payments in feb and recieved discharge in july. It was a long 5 years we made it through, keep the faith and you can to. Thanks to all the help from the forum I did not post much but
visited alot for information. The only advice I can give is to kep a small emergency fund on hand for unexpected expenses as well as have a car the will last the five years of the plan. We bought a car one month prior to filing. It was used with 23,000 miles and it lasted, I have not or am going to incur debt anytime in the future unless neccessary.I have learned a great lesson fron this that debt is evil anb nessary to live in the world today. GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN A 13.

Thanks for sharing your experience and feelings. I wish we would have bought a car before hand, but didn't. We are now spending quite a bit here and there to keep the two cars we have reliable. Never mind my wife totaled hers in the third month of our plan. She started to think we could buy a better car, but even then I would not take on a payment.
On the credit front, I do agree that there are times when you may need some, but cash is king in my home. I feel that we have been lucky here and there, but we also made strides to be ready for small emergencies. For instance my wife does not get paid for two summer months and we had an extra $1,000 set aside to help us through, but had to spend it to repair a car. I was upset at first, but we were both glad to have had the cash to pay for the repair. We are not out of the summer fight yet, but will only be a little behind here and there as a result.
