    Halfway done!

Today I mailed payment #30! It is nice to know we are now on the downside of 60 months and I can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel! As with most others, it has been a challenge, we have had several major repairs including the new transmission I just put in my car, but we had the saving to cover it. For everyone just starting out, save as much as you can as something will come up.

I hope the next 30 months go as fast as the 1st 30 months did!

heehee! It's kind of a good feeling isn't it? I didn't realize I was half way done until I was past it. Or maybe I noticed and forgot. That's awesome! GREAT JOB! Keep it up!

Congrats on your half way mark. Hope your last 30 go well for you. Continue to keep saving money as things will come up when you least expect them too.

Since I have been in our 13th, we have replaced a water heater, an engine, a transmission (different cars!), fuel pump plus all the everyday small things.
Each time we have been able to pay for them with cash. Everytime I have some money saved something has happened, so now I am back to saving again!

Glad to see you are making some progress, or is it muddling through? Live better, have cash ready. That saying sounds great, but keeping the money sure gets tough aye.

Spidge, oh I think I am making progress though it is tough to keep the cash! I am saving for the next big expense. Muddling through or going backwards is what I was doing before bk,

                Congratulations, Jange!

I'm a few months behind you and look forward to the day I can post the same thing. It really does go faster than you'd think!

jange... Like you, I am at the 1/2 mark... For the most part it has gone by pretty fast... Someday I will look at my paycheck & the payment they take directly from my paycheck w/no longer be there.... The low mortgage rates make me kinda crazy... If I could re-finance it would be so awesome... I dont even want to go there, everything has been going so smooth I am just going to ride it out & hopefully the rates w/still be down.

klandsb good luck to you, I make my payment directly to the trustee so I just see my checking account taking the hit every month.

I've had periods of muddling through during the BK time, but I still don't know how we were able to get by with the payments we had before. I'll take it over where we were in the past, but we are diligent about learning to like having money in our pockets verses some item of interest.

I agree I don't know how we managed as long as we did before completely sinking. Now I weigh the wants and needs before getting any "wants". It is nice having money in the bank. Last month I didn't have much leftover because of the extra expenses, but most months I have some money left in the checking. Every week I have money automatically moved out of my checking and into savings. That way I don't have to think about it and it gets saved. I recommend it for anyone trying to save. Even $10 a week adds up.

Every little bit adds up for sure, but I have to confess we do not save on a regular basis. We have reduced expenses as anyone in BK13 likely has and am on the verge of capitalizing on that. Last month my wife did not get paid (no pay in June and July), yet we were able to pay for 1K repair on a car with cash. The plan was to have that cash to help get through the next month, so now its back to square one. DARN IT!!!!
After a year and half of reeling in the spending habits in order to get through the BK13 we are just now feeling fairly good about it. We do an annual budget to forecast the entire year and have Mint.com for some more insight into the habits of our budget and spending. My wife hates those reminders in her emails and on her phone via texts, but one day she called me and asked why I spent some money. I love progress.
