Hello, nearing the end, hopefully, of Ch 13 and new user to Pacer. When I enter my case number on Query, I get the message at the top "not limited to 30 page limit". Does this mean I will be charged when my case is pulled up? Prior entries have said that I won't be, but this message makes me nervous. Thanks.

Pacer charge

I believe the charge is 8 cents a page and you only get billed if you reach $10 in charges. Just pulling up your case won't result in a charge, but viewing the docket will. Unless there is a lot going on in your case, the docket won't be more than a couple of pages. When you click on a document, PACER tells you what the charge is before you view it.

Filed Chap 13 April 2010. Discharged May 2015.
$143,000 in debt discharged for $36,500, including attorneys fees. Money well spent!

When we were in our BK and looked at PACER, each time there was a new development, we opened the PDF document and saved it to our hard drive. We only paid for the document once, but saved on our hard drive, we could look through our case as much as we wanted.

Just don't go nuts looking at everything. Anything actually important you will get via mail anyway. Also, so long as you don't incur over X amount per quarter, you are not billed (I think it is $10).
But make no mistake, every single act (every click) on PACER is charged.
The query warning is there to prevent very "wide scope" searches (e.g. if you just entered "smith" as the last name, you would get a huge number or results).Last edited by HHM; 06-05-2012, 04:52 AM.

As to the warning on the document that the OP stated, what that is saying is that the document may be longer than 30 pages, and in this case, you will be billed for every page of the document. In many circumstances, you are limited to being billed for the first 30 pages, so you would incur a $3.00 charge. When you don't have that limitation, the price could be substantially more. All information contained in this post is for informational and amusement purposes only.
