Update on our Ch 13, so far so good...

I have only made a few posts, but I did a lot of lurking! This site helped me so much with all of the questions that I had, and knowing that I'm not the only one going through this. Well, we filed in December, and got confirmed in March. With 4 payments down in a 60 month term, things could not be going better. My stress level has gone WAY down, things are very tight, but we are getting by. We have not tried for credit yet, really never want credit again. The only reason that we will need to get some credit one day, is to buy a new (used) car or refinance our mortgages. I wanted to make a post to let people know that there is life, a good life after bankruptcy. This is the best financial decision that we have ever made. I know it is still the beginning, but I hope it is the end of financial stress. Good luck to all!

Good to hear all is going well for you, we are one year into a 5 year plan, it is great living on cash and budgeting. We have had a few unplanned expenses (out of state family funerals, and medical bills) but were able to handle them without going into debt. I don't like to admit it but was best financial decision we have made. Good luck and stick to your budget, your 5 years will be over before you realize it.

We are 3 months away from completing our plan. Credit is not even an option for us. We have a mortgage and that is all we will have. We have lived these last three years paying cash for everything...unplanned medical bills, Christmases, house repairs, car repairs. You just figure out how to do it. I agree, is ONE of the best financial decisions we have ever made. The very best one is to never own a credit card again. Congrats on sleeping at night
