Well what do you know, in today's mail was a "Discharge of Debtor after Completion of Chapter 13 Plan." I am assuming that means we are officially discharged?! The letter we received from the trustee's office last week stated it would be 90 to 120 days. Time flies I guess. Please correct me if I am wrong in thinking we are officially discharged!

It says: "The Debtor is granted a discharge under ....." The only reason I question it is because we received a Certificate of Completion last week from our trustee stating we would receive a discharge order in 90 to 120 days. We received this in 4 days. This whole process took so long that it's hard to believe we didn't have to wait the 90 to 120 days as stated.

Congratulations!!!!
We received our Completion Letter last week. It also states it can take 90 days for the discharge, but on 13Network, Final Report Complete is marked "Y" so I am hoping it will not take 90 days for the discharge. They also still have our almost 3-month over payment.
Great news!!!! I know, it is hard to believe when it seems we wait for an eternity for the end!!!!!

The discharge is quick, but closing is the thing that will take 90-120 days as they audit the case and make sure all the checks have cleared.
Congratulations on doing something that very few can accomplish... a Chapter 13 discharge!Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)

Not for my Chapter 13 closeout... although I was converting to a Chapter 7. The final report didn't come to well after my Chapter 7 discharge. My Chapter 13 office stated that they awaited for the checks to clear only insofar as they wanted to only issue one check before closing out the case.
It was 7 months between my discharge and my closing and I was a no asset case. It was the Chapter 13 final report that was taking all the time!
Maybe mine was a fluke.
(Adding that discharge process can be different amongst districts. Almost all require certification of no outstanding DSOs. The others differ on plan completion and other notifications. For the most part, you only need to certify that you have taken the course, have no DSOs, and have completed the plan.)Last edited by justbroke; 04-09-2012, 12:19 PM.Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)

You are right. I re-read the letter from the trustee's office and it does state that a final audit letter will be sent to us and may take 90 to 120 days. That's fine by me because we are officially DISCHARGED!!!!! It's been a long road, but one well worth taking. Although at first we felt guilty filing bankruptcy, we don't regret it, nor feel the least bit guilty now. Thanks for this forum and it's invaluable info, moderators and contributors. It kept me sane. Good luck to everyone just beginning or nearing the end. It really is worth it in the long run - big sigh of relief.

I am happy for you. It is a bit confusing that different districts do things differently. We completed our payments in February (they somehow added an extra month). They were done dispersing money in December. All the checks are cleared per 13Network.
We received a Notice of Claims Filed and Intention to Pay Claims giving the creditors 25 days to respond. Then last week we received our Completion Letter. We were not yet refunded our 2 months of overpayments.
The letter states that an accounting of our case will be filed with the court and once this Final Report has been filed, discharge may take an additional 90 days.
I know we are getting there, but it is quite frustrating knowing that they were completed disbursing funds in December. I am hoping that as in your case, the discharge will come much sooner. However, nothing shows as being filed on Pacer yet.
So happy for you, and enjoy being free of court supervision!!!!! Many blessings!!!!
