Hi! Does anyone know if there is any downside to giving my attorney's number to the creditors that are calling me non-stop? We aren't filing until August, and my attorney told me I can give out their number if I'd like, but don't know if I should prematurely let our creditors know I am filing for bankruptcy. Any advice would be appreciated!

You will get lots of different views on alerting creditors your intentions. We retained an attorney prior to missing any payments, but could not file for several months. When the calls started, I gave them the attorney info and stated we were unable to make any payments. Please contact attorney for any further information. Pretty much all of them said that until we actually filed the calls would continue.... BUT they did not!! After about 60 days they would call again to see if anything had changed.... NO. No one threatened or filed law suits and the phone was pretty peaceful. We filed about 5 months after retaining the attorney.
