    Foreclosure- full speed ahead.

I suppose I always knew the day was coming.

We moved out of our house at the end of January and moved quite a ways away so we could be closer to jobs and what not. We have been moving stuff as we can and got most of it out, but today we were finally off work on the same day and decided to make the trip and finish everything up. Except the changed the locks, so now some very valuable (to me, worth nothing to anyone else) personal things are stuck in there. I'm sure it will be some kind of act of God to get someone to open it up for us. The company that did it put their contact information on the door and said it had been "secured" to protect the mortgager and mortgagee. That sounds like they were just being nice, but we all know they didn't do that in my interest. We had the doors locked and dead bolted and they practically ripped the door all to hell and broke the very nice screen door trying to get them open. Nevermind that I told the mortgage company I would gladly meet someone or something and unlock it, or give them the keys, or whatever tickles their fancy. Some of the things left in the house mean a lot to me and I'm so afraid I won't get them back. If they fail to open it up soon I'm seriously contemplating some very illegal things. I may or may not have picked the locks on an old boyfriends house in my college days. LOL

I'm not sure if we will be served papers. I'm afraid they're going to show up at my job. Although, last time we were served papers (before we filed our Chapter 13), they were served by the sheriff at our old house. I highly doubt they're going to travel and hour and a half to find me. Right? Right? Does anyone know how this works?

I'm not sure why all of this has me so worked up tonight. It's not like we haven't been dealing with this stuff for years. The sheriff's sale will be coming up soon and we can finally be done with this house, and our Chapter 13 will be complete next year. I should be happy now, right?

I don't want to think about it anymore.

As long as the foreclosure sale has not occurred, and your name is still on the deed, there's nothing "illegal" about entering your home by whatever means necessary--including drilling out the lock or kicking in the door. It only becomes illegal when the house is sold, or no one bids and title reverts to the bank.
