    medical bill questions

Ok, so we are in a 100% payback plan with 17 months to go. I have about 5200 in medical bills outstanding (had some medical issues last year), I'm currently squeezing out 200 a month to pay them, however it's making things tight. So my questions are:

    1. If I stop paying them can i be sued for medial bills?
    2. If I reduce my payments say to 50 a month, can they sue me?

I need to free up a few $s but I don't need any problems by doing that.

    Thanks Dumb.

If you owe them money and are not paying as agreed, they can sue you. Whether they are likely to sue is a different question. Did you reach an agreement with them that you would pay $200 a month and they wouldn't sue, or is that just the amount you decided to pay and they haven't complained?

It may be that if you drop the payment to $150 they aren't going to complain. If you stop paying completely, they'll complain at which point you could tell them you can't continue the $200, but can pay a lower amount. It may help to tell them you'll be able to increase the payments after 17 months. It's hard to know for sure how they'll react.

We had the same situation. http://www.bkforum.com/showthread.ph...-while-in-bk13

We are sending each one $10/month until we get discharged and then pay the remainding balance in full. Already got the nasty grams and waiting for the phone calls to start.
