does divorce work in favor of a successful bk? How?

Whether divorce helps or hinders filing bankruptcy is very much dependent on your state's divorce laws and prior bankruptcy case law decisions related to divorce issues. Bankruptcy and divorce make very uneasy bedfellows. In some states, the laws directly conflict with each other making things even more complicated.
If you haven't already, you need to speak to at least 3-4 experienced lawyers who file a goodly number of 13s a year and have some experiences with divorces involved in the filings to boot. If you do already have a bk lawyer, you need to ask him/her about the specifics in your case to know the right answer in your situation.
Sometimes your divorce lawyer has to meet with your bk lawyer to sort things out. Unfortunately it's messy in most states.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
