    Mortgage payment

Ok, why do I bother checking my mailbox on friday evenings. I got a letter from Chase (my mortgage lender) acknowledging that they received my bankruptcy filing. It has instructions about where to send my payment (which is different than where I normally send it). We are filing chapter 13 and the mortgage is current and being paid outside the plan. I had intended to pay it with my billpay through my bank, just like every other month, but the address change has me worried. Of course I can't reach a real person at Chase until Tuesday (they are closed for the holidays) and my payment is due on Wenesday. Any ideas?

Your account has most likely been transferred to the bankruptcy department. You may have to mail in your payment from now on.
    Filed Chapter 13 on 2-28-10. 341 completed 4/14/10. Confirmed 5/14/10. Lien strip granted 2/2/11
0% payback to unsecured creditors, 56 payments down, 4 to go....

Since they closed your online access and your payment is due Wednesday, I would go to the post office today and send it via overnight mail so it arrives Wednesday.

I have my Helco through Chase. they did move it to the bankruptcy dept and probably gave me a new address. But other than that, I can access my account on line and also use my bank's bill pay to send my payment in. I have not had any problems with them.

For whatever it's worth, guys, it's at least "nice" to get such a communication. Crap One which outsources their bk accounts to Ascension Capital sent me nothing (found out thru Pacer) mort sent me nothing....13 here as well, paying cars/mort outside of plan.

Just an update on this. Chase employees were working today, so I did call and talk to someone who......was no help at all. She had no idea whether online banking was acceptable. I decided to take a chance and pay it thru online banking like I do every month. The only thing is that I now have 2 different letters from chase with 2 different addresses to send my payments to. Really? Wow, frustrating. I just want to pay my mortgage.

I think as long as you have proof that you sent payment, when it got to Chase, as long as it goes to Chase it shouldn't matter - they'll take your money!

Call Chase's bankruptcy department on Tuesday to confirm what address the payment should go to. Let them know the current payment is already in process and what address it's going to.

If your bank was previously making the payment electronically, it is possible that the need to send payment to a new department will require your bank to mail a check to Chase instead. But, there is no reason why using your online banking would not be acceptable.

Our first mortgage is through Chase Home Finance. After we filed, we received that same letter you did and had to start sending our payments to their bankruptcy department. We've been paying our monthly mortgage payment to Chase using our bank's bill pay feature for years now without a problem.

Me too; my mortgage is through Chase Home Finance and I received the same letter. I have successfully made 7 payments to the same old address I always have through my bank's bill pay with no issues.

Thanks, you have made me feel better about my decision to just continue my online bill pay payments.
