The discharge process is very foggy. I got my letter from the Trustee and thought I too was done . . . then 6 months later I was still not discharged because all the red tape.
1. The Trustee can not do a final report until ALL checks have cleared the Trustee's bank . . that includes your refund/overpay check.
2. Some Trustee's only do bank reports once per month which can prolong it even more. (which was the case with mine)
3. Once the final report is submitted to the court, you will receive a copy in the mail too. Then your attorney should send you an affidavit that you must sign and return (about child support etc lol . . it's part of the deal, everyone must sign it regardless).
4. Once the final report is done, and the affidavit is submitted to the court and you have submitted your certificate of completion for the financial education program . . only then will the court post a date for your discharge.
5. The discharge is 30 days min after the court gives notices of such a date . . giving a 30 day window is mandatory for objections.
6. Your court date and information should also be mailed to you from the court. You don't go to the court hearing, it is just a formality.
Then on the official hearing date, your case will discharge.
This was the process with me. Wish there was more info on it because I had no idea what to expect. I had typed up an entire "discharge events" post explaining in full detail the entire process of the discharge so others were not as lost as me. I had hoped it would have become a "sticky" but it did not.
Good luck, and Congrats again either way. Even if it is a Completion . .. .you are still pretty much done . . . just a few small things left.
