Ok so I need to rent a car while on family vacation. Which rental agencies rent cars to debit card holders? I understand that those which allow debit card holders to rent cars require a large hold on your card of $500+/-. But don't most of them run a credit check which will show a a recent bankruptcy?

Each car rental company has different requirements for renting cars. It's best to view their website or call them and ask. Enterprise does take debit cards but has certain restrictions (i.e., the rental car cannot go out of the state in which rented). It's tough in a Chapter 13 when it comes to this - the other option you might have is if a family member will allow the use of their credit card for your rental and you reimburse them for the rental amount; that is always an option if you have an agreeable family member or close friend._________________________________________

Try Budget.com
Budget rental has a pre-pay program http://www.budget.com/budgetWeb/html...mpetition.html
4. Budget Welcomes Your Debit Card.
Want to use your debit card to prepay your rental? Budget lets you use a debit card to pay toward your rental online. Alamo and Hertz don’t.
Many Budget locations are also happy to accept a debit card for your rental hold. Whenever renters pick up vehicles, all rental car companies (including Budget) must place a hold on a debit or credit card to cover the estimated cost of the rental. For Budget locations that allow a debit card to be used for this hold, the hold amount is usually $400-500 if you have not prepaid. However, if you prepay your rental on budget.com, the debit hold is reduced to just $100. While these funds are held, they are not available to you to spend. And since your bank may take up to two weeks to release hold funds after your rental is complete, paying online for your rental makes sense when you use a debit card for your transaction.
So if you book and pre-pay online ONLY at budget.com the hold on your debt card is only 100 vs. 400 - 500 dollars.Filed Pro Se: 11.12.2010 ~ 341: 1.12.2011 ~ Discharged: 3.9.2011 ~ Officially an Asset Case: 3.30.2011 ~ Last Day to File Asset Claim: 6.28.2011 ~ Trustee Final Report: 8.1.2011 ~ Asset Distribution: 8.31.2011 ~ Case Close: 11.15.2011
