where to send FIRST post Ch 13 petition Mortgage payment...

Ok guys - I know this is a really stupid and anal question - BUT I have not sent a mort payment by paper check in...ten years...

I have the bill and I'm making payment for May 1st. I'm sending this one overnight so that it gets there tomorrow, and so that I have signature for it, etc.

Question - is it better to send it to the PO Box (USPS Express mail) OR

Should I send it to their address that says Overnight Payments and is their office? Which would be credited faster??

Either way, it will be there tomorrow.

What you need to do is call Customer Service at your mortgage lender. What normally happens if one is sending in a mortgage payment outside of the Chapter 13 Plan is that you continue paying normally each month, sending to the same address. The mortgagor will send a notification of any change of address to send the payment which is usually to their bankruptcy section (different address). You need to call and find out what to do since you cannot continue to pay online.

Unfortunately their Customer Service is in India...atty didn't say anything about sending anywhere differently - and their website is not closed to me yet...I think I will send it to their overnight address which is their North America HQ...this is a lender that issued the mort and is still servicing it. The address is on their bill.

What concerns me is that my payment will get there BEFORE! they get notified of the BK, and they will apply my MAY payment to the 2 outstanding months, and then say that they didn't get May's payment...so I'll write MAY 2011 payment on the check and on the bill...AND overnight...does that sound good???
