Paid the lawyer in full today.

Today was the day we got the ball rolling. I made the final payment to our lawyer and in about 14 days we will be filing. Getting our business books up to date was a challenge as my husband is not the most organized person, but it is done and I just have to stay on top of it now. I was worried that we would need to wait until June to file since hubby closed out his 401k in November (stupid I know), but the attorney said they can show it was not ordinary income and not to worry about it. I hope he is right. Chapter 13 here we come.

Welcome to the Ch 13 crowd, kjrmom911!

    Some quick Ch 13 suggestions....
    * Put on your patience hat as things get moving along because the bk court moves along at its own sometimes glacial pace.
    * Remember that your trustee is there for your creditors and not for you.
    * Keep in mind your lawyer is your best source of accurate information because no one knows your specific case and the customs and habits of your bk court judge and Ch 13 trustee better.
    * Get your emergency fund built up as quickly as you can after filing - it's a lifesaver when those unexpected costs come up (and they always do).

We're here for you so ask questions and jump into discussions to provide your own insights too - that's why we're all here.

Again, welcome - we're glad you found us!
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
