What your personal property taxes has to do with your vehicle plates, I would like to know???
Notify the lawyer handling your Chapter 13, he needs to fax a letter to the clerk of courts (tag office) and let them know you are under a Chapter 13 and that your tax issue is in your plan. This should get you your tags, etc.

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

In our state (ky) you pay your auto property taxes when you go to get your tags and license. It is separate from your land property taxes.Minny

Minny, in Arkansas, personal property taxes are only for vehicles, boats, trailers, 4 wheelers, etc, and come due once a year in October. We pay separate Realestate taxes for our house. We to have to show proof that personal property taxes were paid before we can renew our vehicle tags. Ours have been running around 250 a year. I am not sure about the realestate taxes, they are escrowed in my mortgage.Last edited by arkienurse; 03-21-2006, 03:01 PM.Chapter 13 filed -8/12/04

How can you be behind in the property taxes? It's my understanding that you can't get tags without paying those taxes. That would mean that you haven't had tags on the car for quite a while. Are you now wanting to get tags again? It's probably something you should talk to your lawyer and the DMV about. I would think the state would be hesitant to give you tags while the taxes are being paid in a Chapter 13 since there's always the chance you don't finish the 13. Of course then I suppose the state could revoke the license, but you'd still have the plates.
Interesting situation.
