Getting around asking permission to buy a new vehicle

My Ex husband Filed and was approved for Chapter 13. He had to surrender his motorcycle since it was not needed. He had his mother purchase one in her name ( he is making the payments though) however he registered it and insured it under his name. Does this technically make it his and will his trustee allow this??

You don't have to ask permission to buy assets (including vehicles) in a ch.13 when you pay cash (since the loan isn't in his name, technically he owns it outright). He won't be permitted to amend his schedules to include the payment/maintenance on the motorcycle as an expense so he has to cut back in other areas in order to keep it, which is common, we all do it for one thing or another during our 5-year plan...
