How long to get car title after last payment on chapter 13

We are curious how long does it take to get a car title clear after the last payment on a chapter 13 is made. Our car is in the plan so once paid in full we are to get a clear title. We have two payments left and making one this coming monday and the last one the end of this month and thank god it will be done.

It should be automatic. I would wait 30 days after the last payment is sent from the Trustee to the creditor. Remember, that your payments are held by the Trustee and then sent to the creditors, so there is a delay between you paying the Trustee and the Trustee paying the creditor.

If you subscribe to 13DataCenter, look up your account register and see when the last check is actually issued to the creditor. Then wait at least 7 days after that date for the creditor to get the check. Then just call the creditor, ask if they received the check, and then ask the process for getting the title. It is usually at least 14 days after the check clears that the title is released. If you're in a State where the title is electronic, you may only receive a notice that the electronic lien was released. If you want a paper title, you may have to apply for a paper title after you receive the notice.

Yes I do check online to see and realize they hold our payments sometimes two weeks before paying them out. I just did not know if we had to wait till we got the discharge and that they said is three months or longer to get the title.
