We had a good visit with the lawyer today, but was unprepared for the $1250 we needed up front to file. I don't know why I was thinking that the fees would be included .

Oh well, I guess we are pretty much stuck until tax refund time.

On the other hand the lawyer was very good and took his time as well as answer all of our questions.

Tax refund time is only around the corner... but just a heads up... the amount of your return will more than likely be divided by 12 and added to your pay back! so reality is that tax refunds are no longer a great interest free savings plan....

Be aware that the $1250 is most likely just the retainer (and possibly filing fees). The rest of the fee will be included into the plan.

The lawyer said that since he doesn't get a huge refund anyway that it most likely won't be an issue. He usually averages about $1200.

Just feel so defeated that we have to wait another 2-3 months to file! The garnishment is sending us spiraling down the tubes financially. IF we can't file soon then he will most likely lose his motorcycle because we are already 2 payments behind.
