JMO. I won't say more on the topic.
i am highly insulted by this symbol and need not explain my reasons to anyone. i would no sooner commend any person that found the use of this symbol to be humorist nor acceptable under any circumstances and certainly ignorance is no excuse. furthermore any one who defends the use of this symbol must maintain the same level of ignorance.
JMO...and i will say as much as i need to, to prevent this type of insult again.Last edited by tobee43; 10-29-2010, 06:39 PM.8/4/2008 MAKE SURE AND VISIT Tobee's Blogs! http://www.bkforum.com/blog.php?32727-tobee43 and all are welcome to bk forum's Florida State Questions and Answers on BK http://www.bkforum.com/group.php?groupid=9

My two cents:
I work in a hospital, and have done so for more than twenty years. Patients are great and I love doing what I do, but seeing previous/current patients around town who want to show me where they hurt gets a little old, especially when I'm making a speed run through WalMart or out with my family. It's important for me to always be firendly and cordial, but I like my time away from work ,too.
So if I were a Trustee, even with this site sharing the information that it shares (questionably shady at times or otherwise - whatever - it's not for me to judge), the last thing I would want to do when I get home after a long day is read more about BK issues and rehash the same old questions again and again.
As the resident paraniod leader on this forum, IMHO it is simply good practice in today's world not to share identifyingly personal information in a public forum. Are post-BK people more appealing to identity thieves than non-BK people? Who knows - not gonna find out hopefully. But I keep my publicly shared info to a minimum. There have been more than 50,000 BK filings in my District so far this year. I'm good with those odds. (See - I worry about identiy theft, not what my Trustee may or may not find out about me! If I lied about anything and got busted, not only would that complicate my case, but I would lose my license to practice and there is NO WAY I'm doing that!)
From what I can tell, the overwhelming majority of the postings I have read here clearly have nothing to hide and are looking for some support and understanding. Thank God for this place!

i think if one is honest to begin with they have absolutely nothing to worry about. it is just what it is! and, sometimes the sooner you face it, the better.

You are NOT Anonymous on the Internet
This seems like a perfect spot to post the following article that I wrote concerning what the Internet is and is not:
You are NOT Anonymous on the Internet
As a Moderator, I will say that there are many times we get requests to remove posts or something else, because the poster forgot, or did NOT read the rules for posting on the various forums, or something else has happened in their lives that has digitally come back to haunt them.
We keep trying to say that, while you *think* you are anonymous on the Internet; those with a will to do so, WILL find a way to hack into your information. This is for you who are savvy enough to realize that nothing is absolutely anonymous on the Internet.
Then, we have those folks that think that because they are sitting at their computer in their bedroom with the doors shut, and no one can see them, they are private and no one else will see their posts. Duh? What do they think they are connected to?
I had a request several months ago from a former member that posted a pdf copy of his case on this board back in 2005. Back then he did not think anything about it, nor did any of the Mods, then on board.
Flash forward to 2010, and this fellow is applying for a job. He was turned down for his position, because his name and paperwork was on the Internet. Sure enough his name and paperwork was there, via the pdf document that he had attached to his post on this forum.
This person had been told that if he could get the document removed, so his name did NOT appear in a Google Search, he would be hired.
I replied that there has been a lapse of at least five years or more, since he first posted that pdf document, and his request to remove it from his post on the BKForum. There had been more than enough time for the various web bots and Internet spiders, and a multitude of \Web Archive sites (such as “Wayback Machine," etc.) to go around and harvest information from every kind of site he had visited, including BKForum.
Thus, no matter what I/we might do, I/we have no control over whatever else might show up in a Google Search of his name.
YOU are the final determiner of what goes up online.
Please think of the Internet and your connection to it, as an old-fashioned multi-party telephone line. There is a central operator and then the lines that go out and connect to the different houses on the line. If there are eight houses on the line, there will be eight different ‘rings’ available to let the appropriate party that they have a telephone call.
Now, at this point, the operator should drop off and not listen in. But more often then not, the neighborhood busybody was the telephone operator, and while she jingled something to make the user think she had dropped off, in fact, she was on-line listening. And, if this person was a gossip, all of a sudden, the problem your 15 year old daughter was confiding only to YOU, is known all around the neighborhood.
THAT is the Internet!Last edited by AngelinaCat; 10-30-2010, 06:26 PM."To go bravely forward is to invite a miracle."

THAT is the Internet!
one of us did extremely sensitive work during their career....actually, the person NO wants to be interview by ever for any reason whatsoever. after leaving the job, it was unreal..........just so happened we did a quick goole search and found......
ss number
phone phone
a map to our private residence
cell number
birthday
place of birth
how scary is THAT....now we know someone from the past could or want to find out this information because of what happened to them as a result of "their" special interview...i mean really our lives could be threaten. we did have to go via google corp...and thankfully get them to take off some vitals...however, it almost had to come to an act of congress (freedom of speech may have it's limits or does it?), to get just SOME...but not ALL of the information removed.
really scary stuff out there in cyber space!8/4/2008 MAKE SURE AND VISIT Tobee's Blogs! http://www.bkforum.com/blog.php?32727-tobee43 and all are welcome to bk forum's Florida State Questions and Answers on BK http://www.bkforum.com/group.php?groupid=9

Just so everyone knows...
The Forum policy is to NOT delete threads or accounts. However, we will edit content to remove actual, personally, identifying information (Name, SSN, address etc). But, as a rule we will not delete threads or accounts because the user believes that someone can circumstantially figure out who they are. As was stated, it is the users responsibility to control what information they disclose.
Also, keep in mind, Google uses your browsers saved web history to aid in filtering results. So, if the user does a web search, something in this BKForum may rank more highly because you use this forum; but for a non-user searching, the information in this forum would not likely rank, or be ranked very highly.

Tracking down the true identity of a person who posts on this forum would be just one heck of a lot of work. The person posting would be revealing an event or situation that was irresistible, and the investigator would have to have been guided to this forum by more than just random luck. It is almost inconceivable that a trustee, or someone interested in a particular case, could read a post and deduce that it was authored by a particular person. I suppose that, in states where bankruptcy filings are relatively few in number. a casual reader might be able to suspect that so-and-so must have posted it, and the suspicion just might be strong enough to start an inquiry. But even then - it would have to be worth it.
