    More than 5 years?

My attorney about 4 months ago said that our case would be discharged in April 2012. We filed for chapter 13 bankruptcy on November 30, 2006.

We owe still close to $18K on our claims. I thought that the longest a 13 could extend was 5 years or 60 months. We pay $1300 a month to the court in payments through my husband's job. Which should definitely be enough to pay off all the claims. We're having medical expenses for a surgery to my arm, emergency room costs for a foot fracture and my husband breaking his rib. So I am having to tell the hospitals that I'll pay them what I can at the moment.

Please if anyone knows can you let me know how long the maximum length to repay the claims. We're hoping to move from our tiny apartment which is around 600 sq. feet into a slightly bigger apartment next summer. We moved here in order to save a few dollars over our rental we had at the time of filing which was close to $800 a month. Thanks for any advice and information.

Muzzey, the only thing I can think of is that Ohio may be like Michigan, in which our "start" date is actually from confirmation and not the filing date. Ask your attorney about this, and insist on an answer.

I'm not an attorney. My replies are merely suggestions or observations, not legal advice. As always, consult with an attorney before making any decisions.
