    Filed (YAY)..Question on Verizon

Well I took the plunge and filed my Ch 13 on 9/16. On the advice of my lawyer I didn't list Verizon Wireless as a creditor, since I was current on the payments. I did, however, list a several years old Verizon landline.

Today I logged into my Verizon Wireless account and it stated my account was disconnected I called, and was told due to the Bankruptcy there was a new account number, and I would have to sign up for a new MyVerizon account online. Which I did, and it shows me having a $0 balance.

So...they found out about the BK one way or another. Everything seems to be fine, but I am a bit perplexed...unfortunately, I paid them $250 *after* I filed for my September bill, and my October payment would have been due shortly but they are not showing any payment due. Does anybody know what they do from here? My phones all still work.

I guess I'm wondering if I threw away $250 that they may have zeroed out like the October payment? Or would they have disconnected me since I was behind? It's just kinda weird...

It's very common when utilities (and cell phones are utilities) are listed as unsecured debts in bk filings (13s and 7s) to do what Verizon did here. What I'm not sure about from what you've posted is what the $250 payment was for - was your Sept wireless bill $250?
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Yes, we have 5 phones so that is our normal monthly bill, and I paid that a few days after I filed. I listed a Verizon landline phone, which was disconnected maybe 2 years ago with a small ($300 or less) balance as a creditor, but not Verizon Wireless (which AFAIK has a different address, etc.). But I'm guessing that is where they got the info from.

I guess I'm curious what others have gone through...I don't want to lose my service, does anyone know what to expect?
