Pre filing course online. what do I need?

We are taking the test tomorrow but I can't find anything on the site without actually clicking on the link to take the test, that says what we need to have ready. I'm sure we need paycheck stubbs but what else should we have on hand? Our crazy internet connection has a mind of its own so I would like to be prepared instead of having to look for paperwork and get timed out on the computer and have to pay the $30 over again.

oh..no...we just had all our bk files available...just in case...but from what i recall we didn't need them...what we did need and didn't expect was approx 3 hours to take the course....we did it together....it took a really long time that's about all i recall....o...and it's wasn't difficult.

I guess mine was different. Our "pre-filing" course was really simple budget analysis. We plugged in our income & debts, and it told us we had something crazy, like a negative $4000 dmi, and that our debt-to-income was "very bad." and that was it. Then they gave us a standard message that someone would evaluate our budget and email our certificates to us. We received the email within about 24 hours.... Pretty painless, it took about 30 minutes, but it wouldn't let us submit it for 1 hour, so we just left all the info on the screen until the hour was up and then submitted it.
      Filed Chapter 13 on 2-28-10. 341 completed 4/14/10. Confirmed 5/14/10. Lien strip granted 2/2/11
0% payback to unsecured creditors, 56 payments down, 4 to go....

really momo???? ours was via CCCS...they are called something else now...but it was approx. 3 hours of questions after questions...

do you think we filing a chapter 7 and you doing a chapter 13 had something to do with the type of course given??? i would think so?

I don't think it matters which chapter because the initial questionnaire that the attorney sent home with us had the link to the counseling website on it, and he didn't even know which chapter we were filing at that point. I've heard the post-filing course is much more in-depth though. I haven't taken it yet.

You should tell your attorney and suggest he find a different site to recommend to his clients. Ours was super easy AND free! It's www.consumerbankruptcycounseling.info

Thanks for the replies. I hope ours doesn't take 3 hours! Here is the link we are using, if anyone has used this place. We are in Missouri, if that matters what link they give you.

My atty gave us one that our trustee recommended and it was free. I think it was maybe the same one momofthree completed. It was very painless...enter in all income, expenses and WALA! You had to wait to submit and once that was done, someone emailed you within 48 hours (which actually was next day) with the results, THEN you had to click a link to request certificate which came next day as well. I think it tells you to estimate that it will take 3 - 5 days to complete entire process but it wasn't at all!

No matter which pre-filing course you take, it *MUST* be approved by your state and judicial district. Here's a link to see all the approved agencies offering pre-filing courses you can take by state as of Sept 17, 2010 - http://www.justice.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa...c_approved.htm

Okay, just finished taking the test. it said 90 minutes but it was closer to 3 hours only because we weren't very organized. It asked for everything on our paystubb which we had. Then it asked for every bill amount like electric, phone etc. Then how much we spent on groceries, cable etc. How much we owed on what we were filing on, like credit cards and such. Also car registration amounts. I dont know if all of these online things are the same, but save yourself some time and headache by having EVERYTHING beside you that would cost any bit of money written down and put it beside you when you start the test.

We just got our certificate in the email. I thought they would of sent the whole thing we spent 3 hours doing. Does that come later or was it just for "our benefit" to see what we are spending? I can view it all at the site and I might just print out some of the pages from there myself since all of my numbers are in one place.
