I filed chp. 13 on Aug. 6th with a local attorney. I'm a single, below median income filer with no real assets or property. I rent an apartment, outright own my truck so no payments/Lien. It was a pretty straight forward case.
I had my 341 the 2nd of Sep. at 8:30am. I was a bit nervous. First, there were 137 cases being heard that morning. They had to split us up into two different court rooms. I was in there for about an hour and a half before my name was called. I was certain that one of the suits at the tables in front of the judge was from the University whose tuition I was including in my chp. 13. I found out that wasn't the case and I was just being overly paranoid.
Once they started calling names it went like a well oiled machine. A few couples were up there for about 5 minutes, but most were 2 minutes at most, and I'm not exaggerating. When my name was called, I went up, was swore in and the judge asked me the standard "Did you sign your paper work? --- Did you include all creditors in your petition?" They said that they had received my payment about 2 weeks prior and that I was confirmed. I would receive a letter in about 4 months confirming. It was painless and easy. I've heard nightmare stories that had me worried and I was sure I would be raked over the coals and analyzed with scrutiny. I wasn't. now I just have to make those 35 other payments.
