IRS - tax id applied for/never used (filed Chapter 13)

Well my lawyer just called me about a tax id number that I applied for last year. Apparently the IRS called her...We never was able to start the business so now I'm on the phone with the IRS trying to "dissolve" it...I guess nothing is left under the rug! I totally forgot about it!!!

What happens after this? WIll my lawyer have to amend the filing?

This is a very unusual situation. My guess is that your lawyer will have to amend your plan to include the tax ID but show that taxes were never paid because the business was never started. I'm sure one of our more tax-savvy members will correct me if I'm off base here.

No worries - no matter what this will be fine because you haven't ever started the business and there's no dollars involved. It doesn't change your disposable income calculations which is what matters. Just follow your lawyer's advice about how to proceed.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Thanks...after talking to her she made me feel more at ease about it. She said that she would leave it as is and I may have to testify that the biz never got started and there was no income. I spoke with the bankruptcy contact at the IRS and I have to file the taxes for the year (forms 940 and 944) and make sure to check that the business is closed. I have to file because I put that I would have employees...oh well! At least I know...also I have to take he'r copies of my amended tax returns that I had to do in July for 2008 and 2009. They have to file proof of claims! Well at least I know work is being done to get me back on track financially!!! That's my goal!
