House given up after filing 13 questions

Hi,
We haven't filed yet but I am curious as to what happens if we did decide to give up our house after filing? I know if you stop making mtge payments you can go a good time without forclosure proceedings (prior to BK) and save that money. Once you file and then decide to surrender, how long before you have to move and/or trustee payment increases due to not having to pay the mtge anymore? We are extremely upside down but rent would prob be close to my mtge payment since we are in No. California with 5 people in family.

If you do this after filing but before confirmation, it's a relatively simple process. However, if you wait until after confirmation to surrender the home, then it complicates the process since it would require a modification of a confirmed plan, and the lender (creditor) can object!
