Thanks everyone for the replies, beginning to sound like it may end up being better for us in the long run. Wife is freaking out fearing we cant make the payments, but we drained all our savings making minimum payments to the cards before, thus, our present situation. Her 401K loan goes about another 2 years. indebt00, don't be embarrassed at all, you and I are leading parallel lives in at least this way, it seems.
We meet with the attorney probably later this week, he works out the initial payment plan, am I correct?

trust me I KNOW that stress your wife is feeling....yes I do. We did the same thing and were upside down 2-3 times the amount of our payment.
We pay $1400 mo to the payment and I am happy about that...such a relief. It was truly the best financial decision we ever made. (well of course we made lots of bad ones to get where we were)

piece of advice...if the attorney says somethign you know sounds too good to be true....run. Use the BK calculators for yoru state...ours was almost spot on what we would pay. If the attorney's payment is way off from that then ask lots of questions.
