filed and waiting...

We filed our 13 yesterday (6/09)... First off, I want to thank all of you for all of the great information posted here. I have been lurking here many months and have learned a great deal about this process, and ultimately, feel we made the best decision for our family.

If all goes as planned (fingers crossed), we will strip a ~60k 2nd and 90k in unsecureds. Current plan payment is very low (under $200/mo) which I figure is about 2% payback. We are currently riding the emotional wave right now... guilt, shame, excitement and most importantly, relief!

Anxiously awaiting the 341 in late July...

Its been nearly a year for us. Been through the gamut of emotions as well. The best thing so far is an empty mailbox and a quiet phone. The life style change will come as a matter of necessity in the chapter 13. We are not living like "broke" people, but rather in a controlled situation. I like the discipline we have had to follow and in four years it will be automatic. Situations beyond our control landed us here and many lessons have been learned so far. Good luck in the start of your journey.

Yup, a housing market that loses 25-50% of the value of a home is definitey an unexpected. That is what caused my financial diaster.

Still remember those dreadful words from the real estate agent in 2005, "but you can refinance in a couple of years"

milehigh, congrats and best of luck. We filed on 06/04 and we await our 341 on 7/02...the board has been a great asset for me as well and I have found the majority of people to be very helpful, informative and insightful. Best of luck at your 341.
