Sick of the payments

I am new to this whole thing but the OP's original post(which dealt with the water heater) and subsequent post concerning the A/C leads me to this question and something I have yet to see addressed here. Wouldn't an appliance repair contract be a wise investment prior to filing a BK? We have ours through excel energy(our electricity provider) and it has already covered a brand new water heater(we paid $45 out of pocket) and repairs on both our washer and dryer. the cost is included in our monthy electricity bill and approved in our plan.
