I just offerred my own opinion. It wasn't intended as a slam. I'm sorry if it felt that way.

        Medium Firm (3-5 attorneys):
Again same situation, somewhere between 60-80% payback plans

        Small Firm (1 attorney)
Clearly, they are all using different calculations. The final attorney seems to think you have twice as much dmi as the first attorney, so obviously they are figuring on your expenses being different than what you submitted.

If none of them truly saw an issue with your expenses, then they'd all arrive at the same payback amount (dmi), but they didn't....
        Filed Chapter 13 on 2-28-10. 341 completed 4/14/10. Confirmed 5/14/10. Lien strip granted 2/2/11
0% payback to unsecured creditors, 56 payments down, 4 to go....

[QUOTE=LadyInTheRed;409190]...To get an idea of your DMI, you can play with the means test at http://www.legalconsumer.com/bankruptcy/means-test/. After entering your zip code and family size it will automatically fill in the figures from the above links. But, keep in mind that how certain sections of the means test are filled in can be confusing and vary from district to district. Your result will likely differ from your attorney's result.

Thank you for posting that very helpful tool. It's helping me begin to understand my situation!

You are most certainly in a stressful situation. This probably won't help you either. On our first initial consult visit we were given a potential figure for payback which turned out to be about 1/2 the payback amount when the atty. got all our doc.'s and really started crunching numbers and not estimating. Hang in there. And continue with initial consults until you find an atty. that you are comfortable with and trust.

            $1,240 a month; 4 down & 56 to go
