Just found out - Chase auto

That my car loan that is paid outside my Ch13 is not being reported to any credit bureaus.

My lawyer told me it was a good way to build credit during the payment period and it's not even being reported.

I called Chase and they said it is standard practice (or legal obligation, can't remember) that they don't report anything at all.

    Does this sound right?

Yes, that is their choice. Reporting to the credit bureaus is totally optional. I am not an expert, but it seems like many organizations do not want to report even positive pays because of the risk of an automatic stay violation for reporting negative. For a big organization like Chase, that does not surprise me.

This may be off topic. But, how did you get to keep your loan outside the plan?

In *most* districts any secured asset that is current can be kept out of the plan. Mine was in the plan so it can squeeze a 72month loan into 60 :-) It raised the car payment from $550 to $599 but what do I care - it just took it from unsecured anyway.
