owe taxes after confirmed, how does that work

I owe a very small amount of federal and local taxes from 09. We had some back taxes that were included in our plan, however we filed in Sept, and I'm pretty sure we can not add this portion that we owe for 09 now.

I will not have all the money needed to pay them until middle-may paycheck. Any advise?

How much of a problem is this likely to cause me? Will I just end up with some interest and a pay late penalty?

I don't want to get into any trouble with this. BTW my paycheck withholdings have now been adjusted and I will not have this issue with taxes ever again!

    Thanks Dumb.
Filed August 09, all payments made as of July 12th, 2013.....Waiting on final audit and discharge!

You're right - these taxes owed are from after you filed, so they cannot be included in your current plan. You have to find a way to pay them in full yourself.

First, be sure to send in your return on time. If you can, send along as much money (if any) you can afford to pay now.

If you file on time and don't pay in full, IRS computers will automatically send you a letter asking for the tax due and any interest from the due date.

There is a penalty for late filing of 5% of the tax not paid by the due date for each month, or part of a month, that your return is late. Generally, the maximum penalty is 25%. But if your return is more than 60 days late, the minimum penalty is $100 or the balance of the tax due on your return, whichever is smaller. (http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...PayTheIRS.aspx)

I had this issue as well but for my fed taxes. I filed already and set up payment plan of $200 a month for 4 months. There is a form you have to fill out to get the extension. I'm still waiting on the irs to get back with me so my first payment will probably be due right around mid May.
You can only do this once every 5 years (make payments) so make you adjust your withholding as required.
      CH13 - filed 30 JUL 09, $1521 @ 60 mos (100% payback)
      Done!!! - 01 Jul 2014 I'm free!! Discharged 9/23/14!
