    juvenile court fines

We filed chapter 13 in tennessee on feb 10th 2010. On april 6 2010 we recevied a letter from juvenile court for a court hearing on collection of 600 dollars in fines for our son, who is now 21 years old and not been in trouble in the last 5 years.

I called county court clerk to ask why i had a court date on collections and was told that criminal fines and debts were not dischargeable in bankruptcy and i was being helt accountable for the fines my son had not paid.

anybody else had anything like this happen.

Since your son is 21 years old now, why isn't *he* responsible for paying the unpaid fines? Why are you responsible for paying them?
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

I would suspect the OP is responsible because the fines were due when the child was under 18 years old. However, I agree that the now grown child should pay this bill morally, although he isn't legally obligated to.

Life is not what challenges you face, but how you face those challenges.
