How long til credit starts to suck?

Stop paying the CC bills this month, how long until that starts to hit the credit report/scores??

It depends. Some credit cards will start reporting late payments after 30/60 days. Usually its at least 90 days before your credit score will start sinking however. Hope you made any major purchases to get you through your 13 before you stopped paying...

If you're asking because you need credit for a car or something, go get that car NOW. You're credit will most likely suck in 45-60 days

We were 2-3 months behind before 30-day lates began to hit our report... I agree with Ohio...if you need to buy a new car before filing, now is the time to do it!

If you have to ask, then it's already happening.

Thanks...good to know! This will be the first time in my life I will ever miss a payment. I have mixed emotions.....I feel both good and evil at the same time. Good that I can actually put food on the table....but evil that I am not paying something I owe.

And to be totally honest, after all these years of being the "good bill payer"....I am kind of enjoying being a little evil!! But, it is a necessary evil.

I hear you, PyroGuy. I've always kept up on payments. Today is the due date of my first missed payment. More to follow in the next week. Feels odd and uncomfortable but at the same time liberating. It will really feel strange on the 15th when I don't pay my 2nd mortgage.

I think I'll ignore my credit rating for the next couple of years.

If your CC amounts are close to the limit or if you have been robbing Peter to pay Paul or just making minimum payments and keeping the balance close to the limit, it's been noticed and your credit has already been affected for a while.

I kwym about being it being liberating to not pay. We've never missed a payment, ever. After we met with the attorney and found out our options, I went home and canceled the rest of the month's CC payments that were scheduled. Then we went out to dinner! We could never have enough extra even for dinner at a restaurant while paying all those CC.
