Looking for rental is super depressing

Any secrets to getting a decent rental?

We are looking for a single family home in a good school district with 4 bedrooms. Three of the major "property managment" companies in the area we are looking wont even look at us because we are in an active 13. We have sufficient deposit for about 3+ months in addition to deposit/first-last month, of what the rent we are looking for to be is but it doesn't seem to be enough for even private parties like those on craigslist.

I'm starting to get really depressed. Its bad enough to go through this but to be treated like a third class citizen is the worst. THanks for letting me vent.

Just keep trying, and dont mention anything about your BK either, that makes them get all nervous, because they know nothing of the semantics it entails.

When searching on craigslist, type in BAD CREDIT in the home section, search titles too, this should narrow your search.

You have to network with friends. Its the best way.

Get out of the big property managed company properties and start looking for 'owner as landlord' properties. These folks tend to be more understanding of bk filers, especially 13ers where you are paying back part or all of what you owe.

Have you looked for houses to rent yet? With the glut of homes on the market now, many owners are trying to rent to help make a dent in their too-large mortgage payments.

Keep in mind, a lot of private party rentals don't actually run a credit check. Stop offering too much information!

Oh man- I was hoping it wasn't going to be that hard. Our lease is up in September, and we're looking to move to a cheaper rent.

I would also recommend contacting a realtor. Many private individuals list with realtors.
