    money from parent for repairs

13 plan was recently confirmed. we have been holding out on repairing our car and furnace because (1) don't have the money and (2) didn't want to ask for money (from mother) and jeopardize our case. The car repair is going to be about $3,000 and the furnace guy says it needs replacement (probably another $3,000).

My mother has offered to help us with these repairs, but will it jeopardize our plan if we accept the money from her?

Everyone in a chapter 13 encounters something like this but may not be lucky enough for a family member who can help out. Usually what most folks do is save money throughout their plan years to pay for items such as this that will arise. Since you are right at the beginning of your Plan and these are major repairs, contact your attorney and advise him/her of the situation before proceeding. Any debt incurred after filing is your own debt and there should be no problem with your mother paying for the debt but in any event, due to the timing, check with your attorney to be on the safe side.
