Not sure if this is a stupid question or not but now that I have filed do I need to do anything different when I do my taxes. I have a easy return and use turbo tax. Or now do I need to go to HR block or some other pro. Thanks in advance.

Filing taxes after BK

The only extra thing you may need to pay attention to is if one of your creditors sends you a 1099 form after forgiving your debt. If that happens, then you send the 1099 along with special form 982 to the IRS so you won't have to pay the tax on what was forgiven because you filed bankruptcy - it's the first box to check on the 982 form. Otherwise, it's your taxes as usual after filing.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
