    Credit Score before an after

    Ok I find this strange...

My credit score before I filed my Chapter 13 (July 2009) was bout 718 or so

I just checked it...Its 6 months into my Chapter 13 and its 683. Will it go up from here, or will it go down? I only filed on credit cards and Im still paying on my car though my Chapter 13.

I just thought it was supossed to dip down into the 400s

No clue, too scared to check my score (I'm guessing it was in the 500's before I filed since I had lates reporting on my mortgage and lots of lates and charge-offs for my credit cards). I figure no sense worrying about it now, I can't get new credit anyway so why bother for another 2 or 3 years...

      score

I'm shocked it is that high. I also would have expected more of a drop than that.

Are you paying on a mortgage or vehicles that are outside of the plan ? I have seen what you say many times. My assumption is that you weren't late for very long before filing and that you have other tradelines not in the BK that are not late such as a 1st mortgage.

Assuming everything is being reported properly, I would not expect your score to go down from here, but it will probably be stagnant for a while since it is still a pretty good score.

So is it better, if you can, to continue to pay your creditors up to the month when you file? Or does it not make a difference?

Not really, I don't think throwing good money after bad just for the sake of your credit score is a smart move. Big picture, the few incremental missed payments prior to a BK are not going to have a significant impact long term.
