    Options other than 13?

Wow! After researching chapter 13 bankruptcy on the internet it seems to be a bad way to go for many people. It's not the "fresh start" that it is intended to be. There are lots of horrible stories out there! The success rate seems to be dreadfully low.

What do I do if I file for chapter 7 and I am forced into a chapter 13 and I don't want to do a 13? Can I not just let the house go into foreclosure... drop off the cars... ignore the cc calls... close my checking accounts??? I know that they will all try to sue me.

Sure....if you want to be running away from your ever-increasing debt your entire life.....go ahead and drop out. There's no place to hide.

Step up and do something about your debt NOW.

Stick around here and listen to our 13 stories.....we seem to have a much higher % of successful 13s here than is seen in general across the country.

Ch 13 is not a death sentence. It's just five years - the typical time it takes these days to pay off a new car loan. And then you're free of the unsecured debt forever, much of your secured debt is well under control, and you've learned the important lessons about how to budget and stay out of debt the rest of your life. The alternative is lousy - a lifetime of hounding and dodging creditors and collectors. IMHO it's just not worth it.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
