Is a BK a good way to halt a Foreclosure, or what other choices?

As far as I know, the only other way to stop foreclosure is to cure the default, get the lender to restructure the debt, or file for chapter 13.

Generally, BK will only buy you a little time. Even in a chapter 13, once you file it, to keep the house, you need to start paying the mortgage.
